Below are some of the more important links for additional information on the Santa Clarita Valley, along with a brief description of the communities within:

Our Communities…

Stevenson Ranch: 91381

This is a large master planned community on the west side of the I-5 freeway originally planned by Dale Poe Development Company in 1987, and now by Lennar, one of America's largest development companies. A sprawling County Park, Valencia Marketplace and Stevenson Ranch Shopping Center are welcome additions to the community as well as two elementary schools, plus popular restaurants and hotel facilities. This area backs to the historic oil-mining town of Mentryville, founded in 1875.

Castaic: 91384

In 1866 General Beale bought the whole town known as Rancho Castaic and changed the name to Castaic. In 1887 when the Southern Pacific railroad established a depot at Castaic Junction pioneer families soon followed. In 1889 the first school in Castaic was opened. A post office opened its doors in 1917. By

1914 when the Old Ridge Route opened Castaic became a highway stopover with small cafes and vehicle services. It is best known today as the home of Castaic Lake which is a massive recreational asset to North Los Angeles County and millions of annual tourists, plus film opportunities, lake and land sports, camping and a number of planned residential communities. In recent years the Valencia Commerce Center and The Gateway were established at Castaic's Southern border with Valencia, at the I-5 and Highway 126 interchange. The Commerce Center is a new hub for high-tech development and specialty manufacturing. Many more industrial and commercial giants are on their way.

Valencia: 91355, 91354 & 91381

Founded in 1965 and located adjacent to I-5 this master planned community by Newhall Land

encompasses a large and diverse area of well planned residential developments, golf courses, industrial and commercial firms, multiple shopping areas, and schools linked by its unique "Paseo" system of scenic walkways and trails. Located in the heart of Santa Clarita, Valencia hosts Santa Clarita's City Hall, Valencia Civic Center, Sheriff's Department, major government complexes, and the County Courts. Valencia

is also home to the local community college and hospital, plus California Institute of the Arts, Six Flags Magic Mountain & Hurricane Harbor, Valencia Town Center Mall, the entertainment and shopping promenades Town Center Drive and The Patios, and the Hyatt Hotel & Conference center.

Newhall: 91321

Founded in 1876, this is the oldest and most historic area in Santa Clarita and boasts many registered "Points of Interest." It was an original oil, mining and farming community which has grown to include many diverse residential developments and "ranch-like" housing communities, a large Senior Center, senior housing complexes, and Masters College. People are intrigued by its historical flavor: the Old Saugus Depot and Train Station, the William S. Hart Museum, Heritage Junction, Gene Autry's Melody Western Film Ranch, Placerita Nature Center and Park, the "Walk of Western Stars," and the annual Cowboy and Music Festival. Newhall is currently undergoing a renassance, with a new "Main Street," recently opened Metrolink Station, and new state of the art public library under way.

Saugus: 91350 & 91390

Founded in 1887 this mainly residential and commercial community was originally a Southern Pacific Railway stop. It is home to Santa Clarita's new "Central Park," boasting acres and acres of ball fields and recreational facilities. It is a popular area with rolling hills and picturesque winding canyons. Saugus is also the location of the primary Metrolink Station in the valley, and couples to multiple commuter destinations.

Canyon Country and Sand Canyon: 91351 & 91387

This is Santa Clarita's largest community by population. Located adjacent to Highway 14 it was originally named Mint Canyon, but renamed by ballot vote in 1968. Canyon Country boasts the greatest variety of housing opportunities from condominiums to ranch estates, and a Ted Robinson championship golf course, "Robinson Ranch." The community is a popular shopping destination with several large retail centers, a ten-movie screen shopping and entertainment complex, and convenient Metrolink train station access.

There is indeed a "City of Santa Clarita." Many of the aforementioned communities/towns are within the legal boundaries of the City of Santa Clarita. Some are not. Whether folks are in the "City" or simply a community with in the Santa Clarita Valley, we all consider ourselves proud "Santa Claritans!"
